COLD SPRING INNOVATION CORPORATION
RENOVATING FORMER INDIANAPOLIS VA HOSPITAL

ABOUT THE RENOVATION
The former Indianapolis Veterans Administration hospital, the oldest building on the historic Larue Carter property, is being renovated to serve as a hub for education and innovation. The historic building will be a space for trusted partners who provide education services for all ages. Property development is being overseen by the Cold Spring Innovation Corporation, a nonprofit partner of Marian University.
Renovating the former Indianapolis Veterans Administration Hospital is one part of the Riverside Education Innovation District (REID), an initiative spearheaded by Marian University to improve literacy rates and lifelong learning in the Near Northwest area of Indianapolis, Indiana, and beyond.

COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The Brandt Construction + Schmidt Associates team is committed to partnering with Cold Spring Innovation Corp., to bring this unique and historic project to life. The design team has engaged a series of stakeholders sessions to gather feedback and consensus on the layout of the building and site. Additional community engagement sessions will be conducted to help inform the neighborhood about the project and to encourage participation in the construction activities.
Community engagement is essential! Diane Wade is in a new grant-supported role at Marian University to keep neighbors informed about education efforts and property updates. She’s here to listen and talk with the community about how the REID initiative can support literacy and lifetime learning. Have questions or want Diane to attend your neighborhood event? Contact her at dwade@marian.edu.
As part of a shared commitment to engage the community in this transformational project, you can find ongoing updates about renovations to the former Indianapolis Veterans Administration Hospital and construction-related community events here.
